Sunday, August 30th 2009 The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has ensued for sixty years, while Israel's forty year occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip is the longest in modern history. Travel to Palestine and Israel and learn how fair trade cooperatives are restoring hope, and providing economic alternatives to a population under occupation. Harvest olives with fair trade farmers, use organic farming practices, witness the community building strengths of fair trade cooperatives and cultivate a greater appreciation of Palestinian traditions, food, and people.
Independence Day Parade
Saturday, July 4th 2009 9 AM - all dayThis wonderful parade with a small-town feeling is one of the largest in the USA. CODEPINK has joined the Alameda Peace Network in the
parade for three years now and has a wonderful time promoting peace and dressing up very very pink, including our vehicles and bicycles.
The crowd cheers and flashes peace signs at us all along the route. Pink Paraders will meet up at 9:00am on Lincoln Ave. at Walnut Street. We are parade entry #112. Look for the pinked-up pickup truck and Dozo the Clown. Marchers can take turns riding on the truck. Bring your pinked bicycles too! Our theme this year: "YES, WE CAN! PRESIDENT OBAMA: END THE WARS AND BRING ALL OUR TROOPS HOME SAFELY!" Don't forget water, sunscreen and a hat. It's about a 3-mile walk and takes about 2 hours. Bring something to share for a fun picnic at Alameda beach afterward.
Peace Scholarship Booksale and CODEPINK Tabling
Saturday, July 4th 2009 10 AM - 6 PMHumboldt County chapter of WILPF, based in Arcata, will be having the annual book and bake sale in conjunction with the 4th of July festival on the plaza. Proceeds from donations will benefit the Edith Eckert Peace Scholarship fund. We will be located across from the Minor Theater. There will also be tabling information for getting our local CODEPINK Chapter going in the fall.

2009 Women's Leadership Intensive Weeks
Saturday, August 1st 2009 Ever want to connect with powerful women working for change around the country? Feeling like you'd like to buff up your skills and talents? CODEPINK is hosting three Women's Leadership Intensives at our Pink House in DC this summer. By joining us in DC for a week, you’ll have a hands on daily opportunity to put your passion for peace into action, and learn valuable skills applicable to your whole life!
WEEKLY SESSION DATES
July 2-8 (Thursday-Wednesday): Session will include CODEPINK action at the national Fourth of July parade in DC. Arrive early to help create visuals and plan action, then greet Congress when they return from recess on Monday, July 6. This week also occurs during the 43rd annual Folklife Festival, an excellent opportunity for public outreach for peace. The Folklife Festival, is a "rite of cultural democracy", and will be held June 24-28 and July 1-5 on the Mall between the Smithsonians. Plus create a vibrant presence for peace in hearings and Congressional offices on the Hill.
July 12-18 (Sunday-Saturday): Session will include CODEPINK actions in Congressional hearings and offices on the Hill.
July 26-August 1 (Sunday-Saturday): PINK the halls of Congress in the final week before the month-long August recess! Plus meet with CODEPINK cofounders and staff for a special pink strategy session and a dance party that would make Emma Goldman proud.
All weeks include a final night celebration at DC's progressive restaurant, Busboys and Poets, with a PINK open mike to showcase the week's work and your new skills!

Brookfield Independence Day Parade

We have parade position #23 in the Blue or B section. Assemble at Cleveland, 1 1/2 blocks south of 31st Street and 1 block east of Kenman at 9:30 am. The parade steps off at 10am. West Athens Parade "I Miss America" pageant
Saturday, July 4th 2009 11:30 AMCODEPINK Maine invites you to join an "I Miss America" pageant marching in the West Athens 4th of July Parade. This event draws thousands of spectators annually to the tiny hamlet of West Athens to view alternative styles of patriotic display. PINK contestants will be led by "I Miss America" in full regalia, holding aloft Abu Barbie. Other beauty queens include Miss Used Funds, Miss Perception, and General Confusion. We will be going green by marching rather than burning fossil fuel. Be there or be square!
Ground the Drones in Nevada
Monday, July 13th 2009 6:30 - 8 AMCODEPINK will join with peace activists from Nevada Desert Experience and other groups at a "Ground the Drones" vigil at the gates of Creech Air Force Base. Drones doing surveillance and air attacks on the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan are controlled at Creech AFB. We come with a message of love for the Nevada desert and Mother Earth, and of solidarity and concern for the people "under" the drone flights, who may be killed, injured, made homeless or otherwise traumatized. We call for our tax dollars to be spent on humanitarian aid and diplomacy, not on robots for war!

PEACE presence at Independence Day festivities
Saturday, July 4th 2009 7:30 PMCODEPINK Austin plans to parade through the crowd gathering for the downtown 4th of July festivities carrying peace flags and wearing little more than sandwich boards spelling out "PEACE" in large letters on the front, and, on the back, brief statements about what peace means, such as "Peace is Freedom from War," "Peace Takes Courage," "Peace is Matriotic," "Peace is Creative," and "Peace is Healthy."

For our first book, local book clubs will be discussing Saira Shah's book "The Storyteller's Daughter," a memoir of an Afghan woman born in England to a refugee family, as she travels to Afghanistan to discover the home she had known only through her father's vivid stories. Shame on Yoo: Dismiss, Disbar, Prosecute, Apologize!
Every Sunday afternoon from 4-6PM. Come for an hour or two! 4-6 PMUC Law Professor John Yoo wrote legal opinions for the Bush DOJ saying that inhumane treatment and even torture is legal if Dick Cheney and George Bush do it. This is a peaceful witness against torture-- not vigilante stalking. Bring signs and banners to say "Shame on Yoo", "Yoo, Apologize!" "Dismiss, Disbar, and Prosecute Yoo", "Torture is NEVER legal", etc.
CODEPINK Orange County Chapter Weekly Vigil

Walk for Peace on the Golden Gate Bridge
Second Sunday of every month 11:30 AMCODEPINK march from the north and south ends of the Golden Gate Bridge, bringing our messages of peace and impeachment to motorists, tourists, bicyclists and supporters, the second Sunday of every month!
Please, no sticks are allowed on signs, and keep signs to under 2 feet by 3 feet. No bicycles as we are on the walking side of the bridge.

Walter Reed Vigil

Vigil: Never Again Includes Palestinians
This vigil normally is held between noon and 2 p.m., but on May 2, it will be extended to 4 p.m. Come anytime in this window and stay for 1-2 hours. Noon - 4 PMVigil in front of the Holocaust Museum, across from the "Think About What You Saw" sign. One of the most popular attractions for tourists from around the world, the Holocaust Museum represents the struggle for human rights -- and it's the ideal place to remind visitors respectfully that atrocities are going on elsewhere -- including to Palestinians, at the hands of Israelis. Bring a sign; flyers for distribution will be provided.

Weekly Vigil for Peace and Justice

We have a Honk for Peace sign, a sign that gives the current death toll of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a variety of other messages on signs and banners that we hold, stick in the ground, and wear. Every Sunday, peace people gather on the steps of the Courthouse to petition for a redress of grievances. 6 PMStand Up! For Peace and Veterans For Peace Chapter 65 Wyoming invites all like-minded peace people to meet on the steps of the Albany County Courthouse. Once again, we petition for the redress of grievances. A display of the names of soldiers lost to the war on Iraq, both in country and after returning, will be displayed (weather permitting).
